Laughing hi my name is steve i have been breading corn snake for about 4 years i have 4 snake ,but only breed two sid and gerlddean,
but i have never tryed tow hatch the egg my self i have allways taken them to the petshop and they would hatch them for me, but they away take half of the babys for doing this so this year i am going to try to hatch the eggs my self.
i have been reading some of the post on this forum and going to try this out
Quote:
A simple styrofoam box with a heat pad placed on the side with a thermostat to keep the temps around 80 in the
egg box will do.
Rats are not particular as far as eggs as long as the temps don't get too high.
Incubating them at room temp works too.
I use perlite as a substrate for my eggs as it's very hard to drown your eggs in them unlike vermiculite.
If you get perlite too wet, it simply drains thru to the very bottom of the container,
providing humidity but not holding water up against the eggs.
Vermiculite holds water and will cling to the eggs smothering them if you don't get the water/vermiculite ratio right.
I use rubbermaid containers with 2 or 3 small holes in the edge for some air exchange.
I bury the eggs almost all the way in the perlite and cover the exposed tops lightly with damp moss
or a sheet of newspaper to keep any condensation from dripping on the eggs.
Had a 100% hatch rate last year with 7 clutches.
If you keep the temps in the egg container around 78-80 you should have a hatch in around 64 days.
Too high a temp will kill them for certain. Low temps will just take longer.
but i have poly incubator.
i have try it once this year but it not work ,but by reading this post i know what was wrong i had the humidity to low and the eggs dried out i had it @ 80-85 and i see now it should be 90-95
i am lucky that my snakes have layed some new eggs to day second this year and that a first for me wooooooowhooooo.so i going to try it again.
i will keep post and let you guys know how it goes. Cool

Hope it goes well for you. Put them in a plastic container with only a hole or two...very small holes...and then seal the lid. You should be able to see moisture by the perlite if the humidity is high enough. Damp moss will keep any eggs out of the perlite moist enough. Don't open the container too often. If you stop seeing moisture on the sides by the perlite then add some water (tepid not cold) to the very edge of the container away from the eggs. It will run to the bottom and provide the humidity without drowning them. You shouldn't need to add much if you don't open them too much or have too many holes. Periodically open it to make sure there's no denting of the eggs which indicate drying out. They will dent just before hatch though so don't add water if you're within a week or so of hatching. Good luck and let us know how it goes!!

HELP!!!! done everything as suggested in previouse threads and I now have a big clump of eggs.First of I can count eleven in total but I think there may be one or two inside the clump.I've lifted the whole lump out and put them all together in the incubator.Temp and humidty reading ok on both seta of therometers and hydrometer thingies.Do I need to do anything else?should I try and seperate any or leave well alone.
